On 29 September, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) published the 2017 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods; along with, the 2017 Summary of Major Modifications and Explanatory Notes. The List, which is one of five International Standards that are mandatory for all Signatories of the World Anti-Doping Code (Code),designates what substances and methods are prohibited both in- and out-of-competition and which substances are banned in particular sports.
It is VERY IMPORTANT that you make this information available to all of your competing athletes and their coaches and team leaders in ALL divisions of our sport. You need to proactively communicate this to athletes and entourage via the direct communications channels that you may have at your disposal.
Please also make sure the Prohibited List 2017 is made available on your website either by using the link above or by placing the actual document on your page.
Remember as an IWWF Affiliated Federation you are bound by the Code and have a duty to publish and promote clean athletes.
While, ultimately, the athlete is responsible for knowing what substances and methods are on the List and for the substances in his or her body; let’s make sure that we do everything we can in this regard to help keep them clean.
